Reposting just in time for the 2016 toasts.
As no one here has ever had a hangover, I am not sure as to why I am reporting this, but scientists from the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) have recently stumbled on quite the discovery for those who like to have a few too many drinks now and again. It turns out that Korean pear juice (AKA Asian pear juice) holds certain nutrients that can ease the pain of a long night out.
According to Manny Noakes, Ph.D., research director of Nutrition and Health with the CSIRO, initial reviews showed reductions in blood acetaldehyde levels which is directly linked to hangover symptoms. It seems that there are components in pears that speed up the metabolization and elimination of alcohol. Those who participated in the study were given approximately seven ounces of pear juice before drinking and had a “significant reduction” in hangover symptoms when compared to those who took a placebo.
Reading this, I couldn’t help but to be excited about other discoveries regarding natures natural ways of eliminating toxins. I also realised that now none of you have any excuse to skip a Sunday class after a vibrant Saturday night ;).
What’s your best hangover remedy?
